Abstract

Part of the Decade of North American Geology Project, the 14 multi-authored chapters are arranged in three parts: 1) covers regional aspects of the Quaternary geology of Canada and supplies descriptive information on the nature of materials, stratigraphy and events, and a review of Quaternary history; 2) topical aspects of Quaternary geology applying to all regions of Canada. Chapters deal with processes and the significance to present life; 3) the Quaternary of Greenland. Three of the map sheets present 11 maps at 1:12 1/2 M of the paleogeography of northern North America beteen 18000 and 5000 BP. The other two show Late Wisconsinan and Holocene retreat of the Laurentide Ice Sheet (1:5M), and status of Quaternary geology mapping in Canada with bibliography (1:7 1/2 M).
