Abstract
The fact that the temperature near the stratopause in the polar night is remarkably higher in the Antarctic than in the Arctic is described. The reason why the stratopause can exist in the polar night and be warmer in the Antarctic is considered in terms of gravity waves and planetary waves. -Author
