Abstract

Violence in intimate partner relationships has been shown to depend on different personal and situational factors. The objective of this study is to analyze the victimization suffered by adolescents and young people in their relationships, taking into account some personal variables and the family context. The participants are 450 young people of both sexes, between 15 and 28 years old and students of different educational levels. The factors of maltreatment are analyzed according to age, sex, educational level and the presence of conflicts in the family environment. The data show some significant differences in the experience of abuse according to sex, educational level and the existence of conflicts between parents. Also, the presence of problems among parents will increase the likelihood of victimization by young people.
