IS SPIRAL GRAIN THE NORMAL GROWTH PATTERN?

Abstract

P. L. (Phil) Northcott has been in charge of plywood research at the Van- couver Laboratory of the Forest Products Laboratories of Canada since I949. Prior to entering research, he operated a consulting forest engineering and timber appraisal business. In I935 he received the B.A.Sc. (Mechanical) degree, and in I954 the M.A.Sc. (Forest Products) degree, both from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the Association of Profes- sional Foresters of B.C., of the Canadian Institute of Foresiry, and the Forest Products Research Society.
