Abstract

This review discusses the biosynthesis of natural products generated by iterative hybrid polyketide synthases-non ribosomal peptide synthetases (PKS-NRPS) from fungi and bacteria, the programming of the enzymes and bioengineering approaches. © 2013 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
