Abstract

Purchasing decisions are based on a psychological and economic process of choosing a product to purchase. This dynamic varies in each generation according to the social context, so this research presents a systematic review in order to describe the existing literature on purchasing decisions and sustainable development in the generational framework of Millennials and Centennials (Y and Z) considering the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Protocols (PRISMA) methodology. The results refer to an inclination in the literature for online purchases, purchases with sustainable attributes and to a certain degree purchases of luxury brands, all of these as manifestations of the changes in the purchasing behavior of these generations in reference to sustainable development, so it is recommended to continue investigating how these groups adjust their purchasing dynamics based on their characteristic awareness of the environment.
