Abstract

Purpose: This article explores the role of Vision 2030 in strengthening the healthcare system in Saudi Arabia. Methods: Systematic review and document analysis. Thematic data analysis technique was used to analyse the data. Findings: Primarily, Vision 2030 may contribute to diversify the economy. It would bring in many changes in society and economy. Overall, Vision 2030 may have a limited impact on changing the graph of the health of the citizens of Saudi Arabia. Conclusion: The government highlighted Vision 2030 to gain popular support but actual action to improve population health remains limited. The government needs to develop a sustainable healthcare by strengthening human resources in healthcare, decentralization and efficient use of resources through stewardship, good governance, accountability and transparency.
