Abstract
PT. ABC is a manufacturing company operating in the chemical industry. One of the products produced by PT. ABC is plastic pellets with the code TCP999C designed for the automotive industry. Data on defective products from January to April 2023 reveals that the TCP999C products have exceeded the company's tolerance limit, surpassing 2% for each type of defect. The defects include 4.9% in color, 3.9% in density, and 3.75% in melt flow. This indicates a decline in the production quality of TCP999C, necessitating appropriate corrective actions to reduce the number of defects and prevent ongoing issues. This research employs the Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) method and QC Seven Tools. In the planning phase, it was identified that the most dominant defect was related to color. Thus, the focus of this study is to rectify color defects. Four contributing factors to color defects were identified: human, method, material, and machine. Corrective actions were taken using the 5W+1H tools and implemented through standardization, which involved supervision and inspection, SOP socialization, and the creation of a raw material check sheet. The results of quality control implementation showed a color defect percentage of 1.75% in June 2023, reflecting a decrease of 3.2%.
