Abstract
Benito Pérez Galdós Episodios Nacionales approach to infant and young reader is analyzed from its first date of edition to the Franco years using several documents (library catalogues, school manuals, textbooks or criticism books, woman and child magazine and epistolary material). This approximation was different according to either laycism or confesionalism of both educational institutions and libraries. Family intervention probably played a decisive rol that could have been influenced by Galdós child version. The arguable didacticism of this adaptation for the young is shown when compared to the original version.
