Transient ischemic attack

Abstract

Transient ischemic attacks are temporary focal neurological symptoms that occur as a result of temporary cessation or reduction of cerebral blood circulation. This process, which is common all over the world, is a known estimator of ischemic stroke. Its symptoms vary according to the ischemic area of the brain. It may present with various symptoms ranging from tremor-like movements in one extremity to speech disorder or motor weakness in the limbs. In the studies conducted, risk factors have been determined that will facilitate the formation of TIA and various scoring systems have been defined for the diagnosis and prognosis in emergency departments. Treatment is designed to prevent recurrent or permanent neurological deficits. Antiplatelet and anticoagulant agents are recommended for treatment and prophylaxis.
