Abstract

This article examines the traditional Higher Education System of Chile, from the perspective of the university's social responsibility and its application, especially for the social context of inequality and segregation in which many Chilean students live. In the main, the article aims with conviction, to sensitize universities receiving vulnerable students to generate strategic policies that allows them to deploy their skills and competencies and to help reduce dropout rates increasing graduation, in a context of respect to diversity, tolerance and dialogue. Finally, it is a call to the Chilean State, so that it's financing policies include the "vulnerability" variable in the budget for traditional (state) universities.
