Abstract
The performance of 15-year-old Indonesian students in PISA is still low, especially in mathematical literacy. Several PISA studies on space and shape content stated that most students had difficulty in solving the questions given. In addition, the majority of student teacher candidates' mathematical literacy is in the low category and they have difficulty in solving problems in the context of the wetland environment. This study aims to identify the difficulties of student teacher candidates in mathematical literacy of space and shape content using problems in the context of the wetland environment. This research is a qualitative research, while the method used is descriptive method. The subjects of this study were 41 students of the Mathematics Education Study Program, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat. The data collection technique used in this study is a test. The data were analyzed with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results showed that students' difficulties in mathematical literacy in the content of shape and space were (1) making a precise geometric representation of the information provided, (2) modeling problems mathematically from implicit information, (3) inaccuracy in processing answers, (4) interpreting answers realistically
