Abstract

Science educators can use the science in politics as a powerful way of engaging students in science and demonstrating that the material they learn in class applies outside the classroom as well. Considering current political issues that also have a clear reliance on some area of science helps students to realize that a number of science-related issues exist that play vital roles in national and global politics and to recognize that solving problems related to these issues is necessary to maintain and improve the quality of life people have come to take for granted.
