Abstract

Studied the following: the personality traits associated with stress vulnerability, and the interaction between personality traits and 3 stressful situations (interpersonal, physical danger, and social evaluation). Ss were 414 undergraduate students (mean age 19 yrs). The personality traits associated with cognitive appraisal were distinguished from those associated with coping. The Yatabe-Guilford Personality Inventory and the Cognitive Appraisal and Coping Questionnaire (R. S. Lazarus and S. Folkman, 1984) were used.
