Abstract

This paper depicts the limitations of current digital cities by applying 3D-CAD or 2D-GIS technologies. The research argues a digital city should be able to not only visualize a large-scale 3D city model but also integrate useful urban information for potential users' retrieval in a web environment. Thus, a Web 3D-GIS approach to develop the urban information system of Virtual Anping is demonstrated and important issues are addressed in this study.
