Abstract

Circular economy is a relatively new concept with growing global appeal. The global acceptance stems from its being perceived as a realistic approach to achieving the much desired sustainable development at various levels of our economy regardless ofthe state of development of a nation's economy. This study based on literature survey and case studies provides a framework that could be used by any urban municipality to develop its own circular economic models that takes cognizance of its peculiarity to foster sustainable development and its attendant benefits. The framework proposes a participative/inclusive community scale bottom-up and top-down system of circular economy projects. The circular economic decision framework is expected to be found useful by various levels of government and relevant departments in making economic planning, town planning and regional planning that engender achievement of sustainable development goals. It will also be found useful by funding/development agencies in selecting laudable projects that would achieve their intended funding goals.
