Abstract

We have developed a theoretical model for thin-film Cu(In,Ga)Se 2 (CIGS) solar cells with distributed series resistances and non-negligible internal reflection. The current density - voltage (J-V) curve of high-efficiency solar cells does not change significantly for various distribution of series resistance, if its mean value is fixed. On the other hand, the influence of internal reflection on the J-V curve is not negligible for a CIGS solar cell which has a submicron-thick CIGS absorber with a small recombination velocity at the rear of the absorber. © 2011 American Institute of Physics.
