MitomycinC is a chemotherapeutic drug that acts by inhibiting DNA synthesis. Its use and application in ophthalmology has been increasing in recent years because of its mandatory effects on wound healing. Current applications include pterygium surgery, glaucoma surgery, corneal refractive surgery, cictracial eye disease, conjunctivalneoplasia, dacryocystorhinostomy surgeries and allergic eye disease. This article reviews the current trends and uses of mitomycinC in the eye and its related complications.
