Abstract
Maternal mortality during childbirth is an issue that is always a concern in world health. Almost every hour, mothers in various parts of the world experience death caused by childbirth. One of the ways to prevent maternal mortality during childbirth is through collaboration between the government and several actors, including society. The purpose of this research is to describe the collaborative governance process in preventing maternal mortality during childbirth in South Buton Regency, using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, data collected through observation, interviews and document study, also analysis with the stages of data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions/verification. The result showed that there was dialogues carried out both formally and informally, there was mutual trust between collaboration actors, building mutual understanding and knowledge and there were benefits obtained to provide information for pregnant women, cadres, and elderly cadres about the importance of elderly interaction in childbirth, assistance in obtaining health service and nutrition consumption monitoring, so that it can be concluded the collaboration in preventing maternal mortality during childbirth is very important to be implemented for the safety of the souls of mothers and children.
