Abstract

Vitamin B12 supplementation in specific clinical conditions in diabetic patients has been recommended in the guidelines. These recommendations reflect reports confirming the importance of vitamin B12 supplementation in the treatment of diabetic complications, as well as to correct its deficiency during metformin treatment. In the present article, we reviewed the issue of vitamin B12 deficiency, the relevant diagnostic approach, and the rationale for vitamin B12 supplementation in diabetic patients.
