Abstract

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy has been used to monitor, in vivo, the uptake of the vanadyl ion by wheat plants. The use of high levels of vanadyl ion produced, in the plant, high molecular weight complexes with EPR parameters similar to those obtained from cellulose–vanadyl derivatives. With lower vanadyl concentration, low molecular weight complexes were observed and interpreted as arising from vanadyl‐amino acid complexes. Low molecular weight complexes with similar parameters were obtained from root washings. Copyright © 1982, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
