Abstract

This review of the feasibility of wind energy systems in the U.S.A. is a testimony before the subcommittee on Energy Research and Water Resources of the Interior Committee, U.S. Senate, 2 March 1976. The author discusses the amount of wind energy available, the technology available, environmental impacts, public opinion, energy storage and competitiveness. It is suggested that wind energy is capable of suppyling by 1995 from 3% to 12% of the total United States electrical demand. (I.F.)
