Abstract

This conceptual paper introduces the Associative Model of AI Literacy (AMAIL) for developing AI literacy. Through analysis of literature and empirical data, four interdependent domains containing sixteen competencies are proposed. Principles from learning theories provide insights into AI literacy development. AMAIL integrates constructs with these principles, situating learning in authentic contexts. Further research should investigate AMAIL's real-world implementation. AMAIL can guide pedagogy to develop multidimensional AI literacy as AI proliferates.
