Abstract

The study examined the influence of teaching strategies on students' academic achievement in Business Studies in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. The researcher adopted ex-post facto research design for the study. A sample of 200 students were drawn from a population of 4982 through stratified random sampling technique. A structured questionnaire and students' results constituted the instrument with reliability estimates of 0.83 and 0.82 respectively were used to collect information from the sample. The data collected was analyzed using chi-square test method. The findings revealed that both discussion and demonstration methods of teaching significantly influence the students' academic achievement in Business Studies. The study, therefore, recommends that Business Education teachers should adopt both demonstration and discussion methods of teaching during instruction as this will improve the students' academic achievement in Business Studies.
