Abstract

Kinematic Wave Modeling in Water Resources fills an important gap in the literature on physically based hydrologic modeling. The author should be complimented on his approach, which is based on solving the governing partial differential equations. He displays remarkable ingenuity at finding solutions to a system of differential equations that is particularly intractable. This volume covers the fullest possible spectrum of solutions emerging from the method of characteristics. The author's physically based, deterministic approach is refreshing in a world overwhelmed with black box and numerical methods.
