Abstract

Ferromagnetic shape memory alloy NiMnGa was used to prepare the micro/nano fluid which has a potential role during the formation of natural gas hydrate (NGH). In the present work, phase transformations of Ni52.5Mn22.5Ga25 micro/nano particles under various pressures, and the crystal structure before and after participating in the natural gas hydration were investigated. The effect of the micro/nano fluid containing Ni52.5Mn22.5Ga25 particles on the formation heat of NGH was studied. It was worked out that Ni52.5Mn22.5Ga25 particles exhibit a high stability both in phase transformation below 15 MPa pressure and crystal structure after natural gas hydration. The fluid containing Ni52.5Mn22.5Ga25 particles can reduce the hydration reaction temperature and promote the formation of NGH.
