Abstract

As most hotels have been running 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, many types of waste may be generated which have major environmental impacts. Therefore, in addition to environmental protection, hotels adopted and enforced green practises. It has been noticed that green hoteliers will obtain several benefits. However, there were limited studies into the relationship between green hotel practises and benefits in Malaysia, in terms of financial and non-financial benefits. Furthermore, some studies have found inconsistency between hotel benefits of green hotel practices. The aim of this paper is to investigate whether the green hotel practices have any association with their hotel benefits. The research was conducted using quantitative methods and questionnaires were sent to hotel managers by email. A total of 117 hotels were chosen for this analysis by using purposive sampling techniques, ranged from 3 to 5 stars. The study showed that the hotel has obtained financial and non-financial benefits from green hotel practices. In the end, this paper will help the hotelier to explore the area of green hotel practises to be taken into account in daily operations to meet the sustainable tourism, along with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
