Abstract

Statistical Models in Medicine ($129), from Films for the Humanities and Sciences, is a 24-minute video that examines how statistical models were used to identify the cause of recurring outbreaks of asthma in Barcelona. It does an excellent job of demonstrating applications of mathematics and statistics. Teachers from middle school through teacher education programs should consider using this impressive example of real-life applications of mathematics in their classrooms.
