Abstract

Thermodynamic calculations of a plasma gasification of municipal solid waste in air and steam mediums are fulfilled. It is shown that the maximum yield of synthesis gas at a plasma gasification of carbonaceous wastes in air and steam mediums is achieved at a temperature of 1600 K. At the developed plasma installation, experiments on gasification of the waste were carried out. From organic mass of the waste, high-calorific synthesis gas was produced and from mineral mass-neutral slag consisting mainly of iron carbide, calcium silicate, silica, and iron. Comparison between the experimental results and calculations revealed satisfy agreement.
