Abstract

The paper describes the method that permits to calculate the viscosity of multicomponent mixtures of low-density gases. The scheme described here is based on the Chapman-Enskog solution of the Boltzmann equation, extended to multi-component mixtures of polyatomic gases. The method is applied to eleven different real natural gases. Calculations refer to atmospheric pressure and an extended temperature range (0 degree C to 200 degree C), The selection covers a wide range of possible compositions and shows that the viscosity of extreme samples may differ by as much as 30 to 40% at a given temperature.
