Abstract

This chapter aims to provide insight on challenges and solutions in measuring gentrification and its causal effects on health and health inequities. The chapter begins with an overview of conceptual challenges in studying gentrification which then contribute to the complexities associated with measuring the health and health inequity impacts of gentrification, including data selection, appropriate methodologies, and sample selection. The chapter then presents insights on methodologies and measurements from other disciplines, leading to a discussion on innovations and considerations for gentrification research.
