Abstract
The problem in this study is how are the directive and expressive speech acts novel Surat Cinta dari Bidadari Surga in Aguk Irawan’s Heaven and their implications for learning Indonesian in high school. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of directive and expressive speech acts contained in dialogue between characters in the novel Surat Cinta dari Bidadari Surga and the implications of the results of the research on Indonesian language learning in senior high schools. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The source of the data in this study is the novel Surat Cinta dari Bidadari Surga by Aguk Irawan and the data in this study are directive and expressive speech acts in the conversational dialogue of the novel Surat Cinta dari Bidadari Surga by Aguk Irawan. Data collection techniques used in this study are reading and note-taking techniques. Then, the data obtained in this study were analyzed by heuristic analysis. The results of the study show that directive and expressive speech acts novel Surat Cinta dari Bidadari Surga in Aguk Irawan's are utterances forbidding, asking, advising, ordering, ordering, inviting, suggesting, praising, thanking, apologizing, congratulating, and criticizing. This research has implications for learning Indonesian in Class XII SMA with KD 3.9 Analyzing the content and language of novels and KD 4.9 Designing novels and novelettes by paying attention to content and language both orally and in writing.
