Abstract
The UK valve market conditions are discussed. Utility purchasing power, wide use of fixed-term framework agreements with approved suppliers and the trend to use of logistic organizations have been accompanied by a drive towards reducing the number of suppliers. The limitations of framework agreements are considered. The implications of the 'just in time' approach for valve suppliers are discussed.
