Prejudices, language and disability: Notes on ancient and modern terminology concerning people with disabilities

Abstract

Language shows a particular vision of life and the world. For centuries people with disabilities have endired an offensive and pejorative language concerning their condition. The article focuses on the Latin terminology for disabilities, taking into account the modern reference of the vocabulary applied to people with disabilities.
