Abstract
Traditional oil extraction using simple equipment hurts the environment. One is the potential for soil contamination around the oil extraction site in Wonocolo village. The purpose of this study is to assess the soil contamination by petroleum spills on TPH parameters in Wonocolo village and to evaluate the effectiveness of remediation of petroleum-contaminated soil using Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate (ABS) surfactant and a bulking agent (silica sand) with soil washing method. This research uses field survey methods and laboratory experiments. Based on the test results of soil pollution values in the Wonocolo Village petroleum mining area, the highest TPH value is 11.5% and the lowest∗ is 2.2%. The activity of production wells influences the high and low TPH values. Based on the results of soil washing experiments using ABS surfactant and Bulking Agent (Silica Sand), the effectiveness was 64.35% with a decrease in TPH value from 11.5% to 4.1% using a surfactant concentration of 0.5% and a ratio of bulking agent (Silica Sand)) 30∗: 70. High and low TPH levels are influenced by production well activities. Based on the results of soil washing trials using ABS surfactant and bulking agent (silica sand), the effectiveness of 64.35% was obtained with a decrease in TPH value from 11.5% to 4.1% with a ratio of bulking agent (silica sand) and petroleum polluted soil of 30: 70.
