Abstract

In-stent restenosis represents an excessive form of healing of localized injury. The major mechanism of restenosis is neointimal hyperplasia. The prevention of in-stent restenosis includes improvements in implantation, drug-eluting stent, conventional therapy and gene therapy. The treatment of in-stent restenosis includes percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, atherectomy, brachytherapy and additional stent implantation.
