Abstract
Champion International Corp (Stanford, CN) has developed a pulp bleaching process that it claimed will lead to the elimination of effluent from elemental chlorine-free bleach plants. The technology is called Bleach Filtrate Recycling (BFR) and it takes advantage of oxygen delignification, 100% chlorine dioxide substitution, oxidative extraction, and other technologies to eliminate effluent. A conceptual illustration of the process is presented.
