Abstract

The studies of fish bones revealed in archaeological sites are relatively recent. With the help of ichthyofauna quite accurate data can however be obtained concerning the size of the specimens and the season of their capture and thereby giving archaeologists unpublished information about the paleoeconomy and paleoenvironment of the sites. A permanent working group from International Council for Archaeozoology ensures the liaison between all the specialists in this expanding microdiscipline. -English summary
