Janger Bali: Sejarah dan Popularitasnya

Abstract

______________________________________________________ Purpose: This paper is expected to be a source of information and a source of inspiration for dance artists and other creative artists in participating in developing and preserving this type of social art. Research methods: In order to understand it further, it is attempted to examine the existence of Janger using ontology, epistemology and axiology approaches, with regard to terminology, history and development. Results and discussion: Janger dance is a Balinese dance genre which is categorized as a social dance and is danced in groups by a number of female dancers called "janger" with a number of male dancers called "kecak". From the results of previous research, it has not been completely revealed where Janger first appeared following its popularity. Some say it started from North Bali, some say it came from South Bali, there is also an opinion that Janger started from Nusa Penida. Implication: This paper provides guidance which has implications for strengthening moral values and character education of the younger generation in social life.
