Abstract

A novel triterpenoid saponin was isolated from the seeds of Pithecellobiwn duke, which has been identified as 3-O[/?-D-gIucopyranosyl (1→2) -α-Larabinopyranosyl] 28-O [a-L-rhamnopyranosyl(l->4) /î-D-glucopyranosyl (1→4) β-D-glucopyranosyl] echinocystic acid by spectral analysis and chemical degradation methods. © Indian Academy of Sciences.
