Kesantunan Berbahasa Debat Capres Cawapres Periode 2024-2029 Serta Pemanfaatannya Sebagai Bahan Ajar Materi Debat Kelas X

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out speech that complies with the principles of politeness and speech that violates the principles of politeness in five public debates between presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024-2029 period. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, namely describing forms of compliance with linguistic politeness maxims and forms of violation of linguistic politeness maxims in the speech of the presidential and vice presidential candidates during the debate. The data collection technique in this research uses note-taking techniques with data analysis techniques in this research through the data provision stage, data analysis stage, and data analysis presentation stage. The results of the data obtained were analyzed based on Leech's (2014) theory of language politeness principles which can then be used as teaching material for class X debate material in high schools. Based on the results of research on five public debates between the 2024-2029 presidential and vice presidential candidates, from these five debates, 70 speech data were found that complied with the principles of language politeness. As for speech that violates the principles of language politeness, there are 60 data, namely 28 data that violate the maxim of wisdom, 2 data that violate the maxim of generosity, 9 data that violate the maxim of praise, 19 data that violate the maxim of humility and 3 data that violate the maxim of agreement.
