Abstract
Chapter 10 of the "Handbook of College Science Teaching" is presented. It depicts the instructional objectives that constituted the basis of the authors' reform efforts, the new instructional activities that resulted, and presents and discusses the various kinds of gauges that were used to measure the efficacy of their changes.
