Abstract

The Base Transceiver Station (BTS) telecommunication system requires a large amount of power for its daily operation. In order to supply telecommunication systems in rural areas that are unable to access electricity easily, hybrid system with photovoltaic (PV), battery are proposed. PV can be used as the main source of power for BTS. Meanwhile, batteries are used as its backup. In this paper, the modeling and simulation of PV hybrid with different conditions are presented. The required number of components will be calculated and The daily energy consumption will be given. Microcell BTS with 2 kW load capacity, can be generated with 50 solar panels. For an installed battery in one-day energy reserves, it takes around 58 hours for the battery to be fully charged during the rainy season.
