A quantitative analysis of distortions in cognitive maps

Abstract

In attempting to understand the properties of cognitive maps, geographers could clarify their spatial properties by employing methodologies of cartography and spatial analysis. The aim of this study is to represent the plane forms of cognitive maps and to examine the distortions in them, by comparing the cognitive configurations with the actual ones. The author employed two different methods for measuring the cognitive configuration: features appearing in both results can be regarded as general properties of cognitive maps. -from English summary
