Measures to strengthen the role of primary care nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic: A concept analysis

Abstract

The difficult epidemiological situation of COVID-19 infection in the world and in the country requires drastic measures to strengthen the material, technical, and staffing of primary healthcare (PHC). Under these circumstances, the preparedness of PHC systems in providing safe patient-centered care and meeting the current health needs of the population while preventing further transmission infection is crucial. Nurses play a crucial role in this process. This article reviews and summarize latest findings of explore the role of primary care nurses and their support measures in response to COVID-19 and to identify challenges to achieving universal health coverage. The study revealed that there is vast panoply of strategic reforms. There are a number of differences and similarities such as mandatory political commitment and leadership, governance and policy, funding and allocation of resources, and engagement of communities and role of other stakeholders.
