Abstract

The therapeutic effect of alternative medicine is very often believed similar to that of conventional medicine, since many people think that 'natural' drugs are not dangerous for the health. Aim of this manuscript is to report the case of a young woman who presented acute renal failure as consequence of the use for three months of fucus vesiculosus tablets in order to lose weight. The chemical analysis of the fucus vesiculosus tablets showed the presence of high arsenic content.
