Abstract

The purpose of this study is to recover mineral residues as an additive in cement-based building materials. It is part of a sustainable development approach. The use of recovered and recyclable industrial residues in partial replacement of Portland cement reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and results in the manufacture of cement with a lower environmental impact. Using various experimental techniques, particular attention is paid to the behaviour of the glass powder finely crushed and chemically activated associated with Portland cement. This study confirms the improvement in the physicochemical and mechanical properties of cements with the addition of glass powder, which augurs well for its use as a cement additive.
