Abstract
Critical thinking ability is a 21st century competency that is needed and needs to be increased. Discovery Learning is one of models that can increase critical thinking ability. This research aimed at finding out the effect of Discovery Learning model in increasing student critical thinking ability on Acid Base lesson. This research was conducted on Acid Base lesson at the eleventh grade of MIPA at State Senior High School 2 Tualang in the Academic Year of 2022/2023. Quasi experiment method was used in this research with pretest-posttest and non-equivalent control group designs. All of the eleventh-grade students of MIPA at State Senior High School 2 Tualang were the population of this research. The samples were 31 students both in control and experiment groups. A special treatment in the form of Discovery Learning model was implemented in the experiment group. Purposive sampling technique was used in this research. The instruments of this research were 11 essay test items, and processing the data was done by using t and Kp tests. T test showed that the significant result 0.001 was lower than 0.05, so it could be stated that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. It could be concluded that there was an effect in the form of critical thinking ability increase of students taught by using Discovery Learning model on Acid Base lesson with the coefficient effect 10.3%.
