Abstract
Mini Computer Systems has been supplying general purpose accounting systems on minicomputers since 1975. When we decided to update our accounting packages, we selected Modula-2 for a variety of reasons. Modula-2 follows the Pascal and Modula tradition. Like Pascal, it embodies structured programming techniques, but it also has the additional features required for large-scale systems development and maintenance such as separate compilation of modules (Ada's 'packages'), strong data types, data hiding, concurrent processing and low-level programming facilities.
