More disappointing treatment outcomes in late-life depression

Abstract

Suggests that research has not addressed the need for providing psychotherapy to the elderly in order to address disappointing outcomes of hospital treatment of late-life depression as reported in the study by T. A. Tuma (see record 2000-03229-005). The current author questions why research appears to ignore the use of psychotherapy when elderly consumers are themselves asking for psychotherapy and when there is some evidence that it is a useful adjuvant in treating late-life depression.
